The China Horse Club’s ten-year anniversary is shaping as a yearlong celebration with results on racetracks and in auctions rings worldwide setting new high watermarks of achievement.

When first envisaged by its Founder and Chairman, Teo Ah Khing, China Horse Club set ambitious goals publicly and privately, long distance markers to stretch itself and, in time, measure its excellence against its own expectations not against public opinion.

“New endeavours benefit from extensive well thought out planning and bold targets and that is what we did when we launched China Horse Club in 2013,” said Teo.

“As masterplanners, we are used to thinking on a different wavelength. It is in our DNA to make the impossible, possible. When you look at Militarize winning our 50th G1 last month and our graduate Saudi Crown becoming our fifth individual G1 winner from our breeding programme, it is clear China Horse Club is certainly doing that.”

The 2023 thoroughbred yearling sales season has publicly measured the development of China Horse Club’s international breeding arm. The flowering of those operations across Australia, China, Europe and the United States have naturally taken longer to germinate that racing divisions with the downtime required to build a broodmare bands, raise their progeny and see them make their mark on racetracks or in sales rings. But excellence is clearly being realized.

In 2023:

  • Seven figure yearling auction sales in Australia, France and Ireland
  • Record: Highest price ever for a Siyouni yearling (€2,200,000)
  • Record: Highest price ever for a New Bay yearling (€1,650,000)
  • 3rd highest priced Wootton Bassett yearling in 2023 (€800,000)
  • Saudi Crown: 1st G1 Pennsylvania Derby (USA)
  • Agate Road: 1st G2 Pilgrim Stakes (USA)
  • Tianjiao Princess: 1st 2023 China Horse Owners Alliance Derby (China)

“In September alone we’ve seen a graduate win the China Horse Alliance Owners Derby, record auction results in Europe and Saudi Crown minted as our latest G1 graduate in the United States,” said Eden Harrington, China Horse Club’s Vice President.

“This is all in parallel with Militarize stamping himself as arguably the most exciting racehorse and stallion prospect in Australia.

“The future is exceptionally exciting and we are well advance in planning for the next decade.”
