As we look back at the many achievements realized across TAK Group of Companies this year, the most defining marker has been the securing of Official Approval from the Government of Sarawak to allow us to deliver Kenyalang Smart City (KSC).
KSC, set in my home town of Miri, is a development that is the embodiment of all that we have learnt across the different divisions of TAK Group of Companies over more than three decades of professional practice.
We are most thankful for the support of The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari, Premier of Sarawak, his respective ministers and their teams for their commitment in this process and their belief in KSC and what it will bring to Sarawak and the surrounding regions.

- Granting of Official Approval by Miri City Council for the establishment of Fudan University’s famed SEA Institutes of Integrative Medicine (FDIIM) within the Miri City Council’s Old building:

These developments are only possible as a result of the momentum generated from the KSC Summit in Miri City in May which saw:
# The signing of a series of important MOUs with local and international industry leading corporations;
# The unveiling of the KSC Masterplan;
In 2025, we look forward to:
- Formalizing an agreement with FDIIM and the Government of Sarawak that will allow for the establishment of FDIIM;

Delivering on the mammoth KSC masterplan which will be rolled out in phases. The initial phases include:
- KCEC1: Convention, Conference, Exhibition, Retail, Shops, Hotel
- KCEC2: SOHO, Retail
- KCEC3: Shop lots
- Fudan University
- Supermarket
CHINA HORSE CLUB
It was particularly rewarding to see Justify elevated into the U.S. Hall of Fame this year. The former China Horse Club and WinStar Farm talisman gave so much joy to so many during his racing career. His achievement, as the only U.S. Triple Crown winner to retire undefeated in almost 150 years, is testament to his suitability for this honour.
Justify’s elevation trumped another season where CHC excelled. Internationally, CHC bred stakes winners and raced stakes winners and realized consistently strong auction results. Among the most meaningful was the session topping USD400,000 return for the first foal we sold by our former champion Life Is Good at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
In Australia, CHC and its partners Newgate Farm, Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock, Trilogy Bloodstock et al also retired three quality colts to stud. Among the trio is Ozzmosis (1st G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes) who became the most commercial CHC bred to retire to the breeding barn.
And while sensibilities tell us that our club is unlikely to ever source another ‘Justify’, we search and work to realize this outcome daily. Our aspirations are just as lofty as we turn into 2025 as they have been at any time previously.
Excellent results on track and in the auction ring have seen The Chase further establishing itself in the Australian’s racing landscape. Its seasonal highlights include:
Depth of Character, a graduate of the first crop yearlings offered by The Chase at the Magic Millions last year, became its first stakes winner when storming home to win the 2024 Listed Tatts Stakes.
In its second year as a vendor at the Magic Millions’ Gold Coast Yearling Sale it delivered 36 percent year-on-year increases.
It secured an AUD1,000,000 result at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale when selling an Exceed And Excel x Dame Giselle filly - the first yearling ever born at the farm under current ownership.
Enjoyed a 90 percent clearance rate across major sales (selling 29 of 32 yearlings) with 48 percent of these results trading for AUD300,000 or more.
Currently the team is preparing its strongest draft to date for the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. The team has been exceptional in juggling overlapping breeding requirements and yearling preparation needs.
Our group is immensely excited by the future we intend to shape further in 2025. Thank you to all the staff across our group for your efforts this year and to the families that support them in their endeavours. Our strength as a group is built on your passion and energy.
